What Makes Us Special
Soleng Tom Elementary School provides a strong sense of community, with teachers, administrators and parents working together. The staff is known for dedication and collaboration, and about half the faculty has worked at Soleng Tom for more than 10 years.

Parent involvement is strong at Soleng Tom. The school has an active PTSA, and parents regularly volunteer in the classroom and at events such as the Grandparents’ Luncheon, Family BBQ and Spaghetti Night.

In addition to strong academics — Soleng Tom regularly has top scores in reading and math — the school offers opportunities for music instruction, arts and athletics. The school also participates in Wright Flight, an instructional program where student learn about flight and get to fly a plane. A real one!

Soleng Tom Elementary opened in 1988, and is located on the east side of Tucson, Arizona. Soleng Tom Elementary is named after Soleng Tom, the only Asian-American to have served on the District 1 school board from 1964-1980. Soleng Tom is a native of Canton, China and a successful businessman active in the American Legion.
