After many years of welcoming families and supporting students, Soleng Tom K-8 Front Office Manager Teri McDowell is retiring. McDowell has been part of the Soleng Tom community since the school first opened in 1989, when she was hired as the campus’ first K-3 tutor. She later became the school’s front office manager, a role she has held for the past 24 years, helping keep the office running smoothly while building strong relationships with families and staff.

Over the years, McDowell worked with several principals and became a familiar, friendly face for the entire school community. Some of her favorite memories include the school’s grandparent luncheons, fall festivals, and the many celebrations that brought families together.

“It’s just a really good community,” McDowell said.

In retirement, she plans to spend more time gardening, reading, traveling, and caring for her two dogs and cat. A trip to Europe, with hopes of visiting Scotland, Ireland, and Switzerland, is also on her list. McDowell says she also hopes to return to Soleng Tom as a volunteer because the school community means so much to her.

“I love you all, and I hope I’ll be back to see you. Don’t forget about me,” she said.
